Advisory Committee

The Cyber Café @ Malden Square Advisory Committee serves in an advisory capacity to CTAC and the management team. It meets monthly to receive and review feedback from CTAC, review proposals from community organizations and individuals regarding the use of the Cyber Café’s resources, and provide input/feedback to CTAC.

Its mission is three-fold:

  • serve as a bridge between CTAC's vision and the education, technical, and access needs of Cyber Café patrons, staff/volunteers, and the larger community;
  • coordinate special projects within CTAC's persistent outreach to all sectors of the community, and
  • petition and secure sponsors to support the financial and promotional needs of the Cyber Café.

In all phases of program organization and implementation, the Advisory Committee recognizes and advocates for the mission-related needs of the lower income community and others with limited access to technology.

The AC meets the fourth Monday of each month from 5:00-6:30 PM at the Café. If you are interested in attending a meeting or joining the Advisory Committee, please e-mail us or call, toll free, 866-833-2823.

AC members listen to each other’s reports and suggestions.

PR subCommittee

The PR Committee provides publicity, public relations, and other media-related guidance and assistance to the Advisory Committee. The Chair of the PR Committee is, by default, an AC member. Other members of the PR Committee do not need to be AC members. This helps spread the workload out and involve more community members.

Access subCommittee

The Access Committee provides accessibility and related guidance and assistance to the Advisory Committee. The Chair of the Access Committee is, by default, an AC member. Other members of the Access Committee do not need to be AC members. This helps spread the workload out and involve more community members.

Technical Committee

The Technical Committee organizes and supports the technical needs of the Cyber Café. Meeting regularly, technical committee members plan upgrades & repairs, perform technical support on major projects, and provide input to CTAC and the AC regarding technical operations.

Current projects include a way to assess technical skills of new volunteers, resources for technical training for volunteers and members, and setting server-based policies to manage computer use and access.

The Tech Committee meets the 2nd Thursday of each month from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at the Café. If you are interested in attending a meeting joining the Tech Committee, please e-mail or call, toll free, 866-833-2823.
